Mark Goodger, C.E.O. of Global Maritime Legal Solutions (Pty) Ltd, and Honorary Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), has been actively engaged in the International Trade and Customs Compliance sphere in both public and private sector capacities for over 44 years.
His passion for the professionalisation and recognition of the customs vocation has been instrumental in the introduction of customs qualifications and delivery of modules at UKZN since 2009. Additionally, he delivers customs and global trade competence capacity through institutions such as TETA, QCTO, FIATA, ICC, BUSA, ASAC (Associated Chambers of Commerce of South Africa), and SAIT.
His combined expertise is successfully applied to build capacity and educate trade and customs executives, professionals, senior, middle, and operational management, as well as SMME organisations, utilising mediums such as WCO E-Learning, according to the latest internationally adopted conventions, instruments, agreements, and standards.
His most recent appointment with a leading global Subject Matter Expert, was to conduct the "needs assessment and analysis and development of training modules" for African Customs Administrations to implement the AfCFTA Agreement. Furthermore, he developed Leadership Training Modules for the AUC relevant to the AfCFTA Annexes and Protocol on Trade.
His passion and vision have always been to uplift and upskill previously disadvantaged communities in Africa and the Middle East, demonstrating perseverance and determination.
